Math
This week in math the Betas continued on with multiplication! We can draw arrays, write and even solve multiplication number sentences! This is so much easier than we thought it’d be! So proud of all of these Betas!!
ELA
Our focus in phonics this week was on syllabication of words and a review of open/closed syllables. The skill of breaking words into chunks is a valuable one because it can help us identify and read new words, especially the longer words that we’ll encounter soon.
We are finishing up our book club novels! These will be our last books of the year!! We’re reading Eerie Elementary, Ready Freddy: Yikes Bikes! and The Littles.
We are squeezing one last mini writing project in before the quarter is over! Each kiddo chose a minibeast, researched, and found 3 facts to write down. We will be turning those facts into clues and creating a Guess the Minibeast exhibit, complete with a flap to lift to see if you guessed the correct creature ! These will be displayed at PoP!
Theme
This week was Butterfly Week in Beta! We read about butterflies, learned about their amazing transformation from caterpillars, and compared them with moths. On Wednesday we made some tasty snacks inspired by butterflies and on Thursday we continued working on our giant insect projects! See you all on Monday for our trip to Two Hives!!
