The Gammas have been loving the beautiful weather. It was perfect for nature walks and fun recess activities. One more week until a well deserved Thanksgiving break. Please ask your Gamma about all the interesting things they are discovering at school. AHB really is our happy place!
Math
Gamma ones explored division this week and learned how it is related to multiplication. They gained an understanding of the concept of division by listening to stories that involved division. They are becoming experts on fact families! Gamma twos also explored division by applying the rules of divisibility and dividing by 10’s and 100’s. We ended the week by dipping our toes into division with remainders.
ELA
This week Gammas continued reading fables and identifying the problem, solution and the moral. Adverbs were our focus for grammar and the students came up with some amazingly interesting sentences! Now, they are in the process of writing their own fables.
THEME
Seeds, seeds and more seeds were our subject this week; specifically seed dispersal. They learned about the many ways plants, animals, wind, water and gravity scatter seeds. In learning groups, they applied this knowledge by creating their own seed that was well adapted to their assigned type of dispersal. On Thursday, we began learning about the classifications of animals.
Around the playground…
This week, some of the Gammas traded Four Square for “cops and robbers”. Some competed at tether ball, while others had fun being a human bowling ball or a world class chef in the play kitchen. It is so fun and refreshing to watch the kids using their imaginations during recess. Ask your Gamma about their favorite recess activity!
