It was a pleasure to have our Gammas return to class this week. They enjoyed seeing friends and sharing spring break experiences with each other. We also eased right back into academics with some fun activities. This quarter is going to be so much fun!
Math
Gamma 1’s reviewed multiplication, division and problem solving by working on a math mystery. We also started off our measurement unit by practicing telling time on analog clocks. Gamma 2’s reviewed fractions and dove right into geometry by learning the first of many vocabulary terms including point, line, plane, perpendicular, parallel and intersecting.
ELA
In reading, we are learning about major and minor characters and how characters’ relationships are an important part of the plot. In writing we reviewed simple sentences, subjects and predicates. The students were so excited to open up their book club packages and get started with their new novels this week.
Theme
We began discussing what environmentalism means and brainstormed how we can be environmental super heros. We read about different parts of the environment that can be affected by pollution, and we wrapped up the week by viewing some public service announcements about environmentalism.
