All week, Larry has bothered our classroom with his shenanigans. First, we were missing our table team supplies, then our lamps, then our peace corner pillows, and finally, OUR CHAIRS were switched with Betas’!!! We will DEFINITELY need to create some traps and need your help.
Please drop off any recyclables you have to the Alpha classroom on Monday morning.
For many years now, this Leprechaun has pestered our class during our 3rd quarter when we study Geometry – which is handy for us (the one, single convenient thing about this Leprechaun…), so we can justify building traps and applying our knowledge of 3D shapes during school hours. We could use help sourcing cylinders, cubes, rectangular, triangular, ANY- angular prisms…if you have any spheres, ovoids, or ellipsoids lying around, we could use those too!
We had so hoped that our move would be enough to escape this torment, but perhaps, this will be OUR YEAR!

We are careening towards the end of the quarter, wrapping up projects large and small, as well as assessing our students’ progress in all areas. It was a whirling miasma! We learned about a few of our Ocean’s incredibly dedicated Heroes this week. Jacques Cousteau, Maris Seidenstecker, Paul Nicklen, Cristina Mittermeier, Sylvia Earle, and Boyan Slat – all visionaries who give us hope. We returned to the aphotic zone to explore underwater volcanoes! Alphas learned that the pressure of water makes volcanoes look a little different underwater and often produces pillowy lava. We looked at many exciting underwater explosions, such as this stupendous volcano and this deep ocean recording. Then we made our own underwater volcanoes.
We also … became superheroes!
Cut, traced, and stuffed the narwhal fluke and flippers…

Extra Recess!!!! Thank you so much for your donations, which made Alpha the top donating class in the whole school! They were thrilled to celebrate this huge accomplishment with a second recess.
