This Week in Alpha
A Note About Show & Tell…
Due to its popularity, we are going to add a little structure to this very fun opportunity to practice public speaking AND add a nice layer of SEL sense of “influence” and “connection” at the same time – we would like for Show and Tell to run as follows:
We’ll host
Tuesday: Cherries in the Snow Table
Wednesday: Blue Table
Thursday: Red Table
Please limit your Show & Tell to ONE item (which might be a rock collection – if it is a “type of toy collection” take a photo of the collection and bring your favorite to share in class). If you are sharing a book, make sure you have a “favorite page” you’d like to share.
This Week in Alpha…
To ensure that our peeps survive, we had to come up with a way to make sure we found a source of water for them!
This week, we put some structure around our collaboration and “Voilà!” we struck water! With water, we knew animals would be attracted to it, and we’d be able to grow plants! If we’re going to be growing plants, we’d need something to live in.
In Language Arts…
This week we experimented with how our handwriting adjusts to the space we have to write in. No matter how far apart or close together lines are on a paper, we have to adjust how large or small our writing is. We practiced a lot because it takes a LOT of practice to even appreciate how helpful that middle-dashed line is! We are getting really good at hearing vowel sounds buried in syllables. We are beginning to learn a few writing conventions too – like starting a sentence with an uppercase letter and ending it with a period.
In Math…
We finished our season cycles, subitized, shared our ideas, and “respectfully disagreed” with some ideas. We added and created growing and shrinking patterns, and started making dance patterns that will plant seeds of familiarity with multiplication!
