What a week of exploration and fun we have had in the Gamma room! Our week included the perfect combination of working individually and with others to reach our learning goals. Our Gamma community is really coming together!
Math
We reviewed rounding and place value with an “Amazing Math Race.” Then we applied our rounding skills to estimating answers to real life math problems.
ELA
We learned about cause and effect relationships and applied them in reading about the very first vikings. Our book clubs are going strong and the students seem to be enjoying their novels.
Theme
We learned about Viking runes and how they were used in everyday life and as tools of wisdom and magic. They studied the rune alphabet and meanings of rune symbols. We even learned that in our modern world, there are still examples of Viking culture all around us. Be sure to ask your child about one in particular they learned about. They finished the week by creating their own rune stone!
**We are still collecting empty cereal boxes and food cans.
