Lots of epic things were happening in Gammaland this week including a Viking raid! We are looking forward to a strong finish to quarter 1 and our celebration next Thursday. We are proud of our Gammas for how hard they have worked this quarter, and we are so grateful for your support!
Math
We are learning about multiplication. Gamma one learned that it is repeated addition and practiced setting up multiplication equations based on equal groups. Gamma two is moving on into two digit by two digit multiplication using several strategies including partial products and the standard algorithm. Memorizing the basic facts will help them in math all year long. Any time you can spend at home helping them with this would be great!
ELA
We finished up our personal narratives and talked about the importance of paragraphs. The students used what they learned to create paragraphs in their own stories. We used information about the realms of Yggdrasil to create our own versions of this well known Norse belief. They worked in groups to create their own Yggdrasil masterpieces.
THEME
We finished up our awesome Viking shields and even used them in a Viking raid of the upper school on Thursday! As young Vikings we learned the importance of rowing in sync and working as a team/warrior party. We look forward to wrapping up our Viking unit next week with a celebration on Leif Erikson Day.
