2nd/3rd: Week of Aug 21

Math – Ms. Andrea’s math crew reviewed some number sense concepts this week, focusing on odd and even numbers, finding patterns on the hundreds chart and filling in missing numbers on a number line. Ms. Kelly’s math group is working so hard and are becoming masters of place value with really BIG numbers- to the 100 thousands place- using base 10, expanded and word forms. Math – Ms. Kelly’s math group had one busy week! They worked on their last new concept of the year, picture graphs! They discussed what a picture graph is, how they show data, why “keys” are important and then spent time analyzing and creating their very own! These Betas absolutely worked their little tails off on their data and graphing post assessments AND their end of year assessments which covered everything that they learned this year! We are SOOOO PROUD!! Stellar work, mathematicians! Ms. Skylar’s math group focused all of their energy on area and perimeter this week! They kicked

Upon Ms. Skylar’s return her group focused on partial products and were introduced to the standard algorithm for two digit by one digit multiplication and they grasped that

MATH time! Ms.Kelly’s math group kicked off their week with a quick review of time to the nearest hour and half hour before leaping into time to the nearest minute. The kiddos warmed their brains up with a partner activity that required taking turns spinning a time and drawing the hands on the clock, partners needed to check their work before taking the next
