Heil og sæl (to your health and happiness) dear Gamma families! What a lot of learning we squeezed into this short week. Even as we’re learning about reading, math, writing, and the Vikings, the Gammas are gaining valuable knowledge about compromise and working in teams–from deciding who will read first during book club to pitching in to clean up our classroom after building Viking longhouses together–everyone is a valuable member of our little community!
Math
We used our knowledge of place value to help us round numbers.
ELA
We continued studying character traits, conflict, and reaction/resolution to conflict by reading articles and completing graphic organizers about the Viking gods, Odin, Thor, and Loki. We also started book clubs this week!
Theme
In this short week, groups finished their longhouses and introduced their Viking peeps to their new homes. We learned how Viking children were named. Be sure to ask your son or “dotter” what their Viking name and nickname is!

Important Announcements! Tuesday night, September 9 is Parent Support Night here at school. Parents are welcomed to meet and greet in the lounge at 5:30, then move on to our classroom at 6 to share tips and concerns about how your school year is going. For example, does anyone have ideas for making P&P run smoothly at your house? Does anyone have a good trick for organizing supplies and getting out the door smoothly in the morning?
Also, we are still collecting empty cereal boxes and food cans.
