We are so excited to have our Gammas back for quarter 2. They seem rested and ready to go! Although we are sad to leave the Vikings, our study of plants and animals is sure to be a lot of fun. We are looking forward to an amazing quarter!
Math
We kicked off this quarter by continuing our work on multiplication. The students enjoyed playing games to strengthen their skills this week . Gamma ones have been learning different ways to represent multiplication like arrays, area models and skip counting. Gamma twos have been honing our two by two digit skills. Please continue to encourage your Gamma to memorize their basic multiplication facts! Division is coming soon.
ELA
This week we learned about making connections in the text we read. We practiced making text to text, text to self and text to world connections. We are also working on recognizing and utilizing features of nonfiction texts. These include captions, diagrams/labels, headings, table of contents, bolded/italicized words and glossaries. We are looking forward to beginning our new book clubs on Monday!
THEME
We dove into our living things unit this week by welcoming earthworms to our classroom. Gammas are learning about the amazing contributions of these little critters. We wrapped up our week by learning about the life cycle of plants and planting our own beans! We are excited to watch them sprout!
We appreciate your time and insight during parent conferences this week!! We are so grateful for such a wonderful group of students and parents.
