General News We are thrilled to report that Apollo is heading home! Thank you again for your sweet support during what was certainly an overwhelmingly stressful stretch for Apollo and his family. The Gammas final project (Body Systems Amusement Park Posters) is due on Monday. Math: Thank you to Ms. Jessica for subbing for me Monday and Tuesday. She taught the Marionettes how to find the volume of rectangular prisms, the Saplings independent probability, and the Vroomshrooms the quadratic formula. When I returned Wednesday and Thursday the Marionettes and Vroomshrooms worked on unit reviews while the Saplings learned how to find the probability of dependent events. A twirling, swirling playground dance performance! In our Bigger Backyard…WHAT’S ABOVE US?! “Houston…we have lift-off!” Alphas explored our Moon this week. We learned that this amazing satellite inspired myths and legends around the globe, and we got to know a few of them! We learned a hypothesis about how some scientists believe the Moon was formed and how far away it is from Earth. Math – Ms. Andrea’s math group is deep into our graphing unit! We made T charts for our favorite weekend day and types of weather in Austin per month. We also made a tally chart and practiced reading a pictograph in which one picture represented 2 students. Next, we shifted our focus to surveys. After learning what they are, the Betas polled their peers, recorded data and analyzed their results. We devoted time to analyzing various graphs and drawing all sorts of information from them.
