ELA Update On Monday and Tuesday we worked on learning the difference between a simile and a metaphor, as well as the author’s purpose for using these literary devices in their writing. General News ELA Update This week was filled with more reading and more book talks! We used some fun discussion cards to bring some new flavor to our conversations with questions like: what actors would play the characters from your book in a movie, what are the themes of the novel, if you were to run into the main character from the novel on the street what outfit would they be wearing, sharing about a character in the novel you admire and why, and so much more! General News ELA Update Wowee! Gammas are on a roll with reading! Most people are halfway through their first book and a few folks have even moved on to trying out a second, or even third, genre! The enthusiasm for reading and creative writing remains off the charts in ELA Gammaland. On Monday we went over our P&P and talked about how, as readers, we should always be monitoring our thinking as we read. General News ELA Update This week in ELA was a blast! The enthusiasm they have shown for the new genre study has surprised and delighted their ELA teacher! Gamma’s were impressed with the reorganization of the classroom library and it piqued their interest anew for self-selecting books. We heard a lot of casual conversation in the mornings discussing books! On Monday we went over the new homework and found out who will be in our book clubs for this first round of books and they self-selected books from the library. General News It was so lovely to be back together again after fall break! We had a quick but action-packed week. Remember to look over science fair materials and due dates and add them to your calendars, as we are moving quickly through the scientific method. Testable questions (Part I of the packet) are due in class on Monday! Next Thursday, on Halloween, we’ll head to Shipe Park in costume (optional, of course.)
