Math – Ms. Andrea’s math group finished off their graphing unit and shone so bright on their posttest!! We were sure to devote some time to games and student-led equation challenges (aka balancing bears). Next week we’ll finish our end of year assessment and launch into space with a fun, math-centric project! Ms. Kelly’s crew has been diving deep into fraction comparisons this week! Math – Ms. Andrea’s math group is deep into our graphing unit! We made T charts for our favorite weekend day and types of weather in Austin per month. We also made a tally chart and practiced reading a pictograph in which one picture represented 2 students. Next, we shifted our focus to surveys. After learning what they are, the Betas polled their peers, recorded data and analyzed their results. We devoted time to analyzing various graphs and drawing all sorts of information from them. Math – Ms. Andrea’s math group wrapped up our unit on $ & financial literacy by counting & comparing sets of coins, solving coin riddles and story problems, and learning & playing a lot of new games! We also worked on balancing scales, by counting the coins on one end of the scale and building the same amount on the other end using a different combination of coins. Our Beta 1s have become expert coin counters. On Thursday they ROCKED their unit assessment. Way to go, Betas! Ms. Kelly’s crew continues to practice mapping fractions greater than one on number

Then we played store and took turns buying items and paying for them using a combination of coins. After that – you guessed it – game day! We learned a new one and brought out several others. These guys and gals are doing an excellent job of counting mixed coins!! 🎉 Ms. Kelly’s crew kicked off the week
