Weekly View of Why Students Love Learning at AHB

Middle School: Week of Apr 14

Math: The Marionettes and Saplings started their week with unit reviews and check-ins. They then dove into their next units, geometry and probability, respectively. The Vroomshrooms started factoring quadratic functions in order to find roots this week. They ended the week with an activity where given a graph they had to write the vertex, standard, and factored form of the quadratic function. ELA: On Monday we discussed what’s happening in our novels and finished the idiom paintings we started last week. Tuesday we kicked off class with a quick write about their novels. Marionettes, a wise person once said, “Every […]

In our Bigger Backyard…WHAT’S ABOVE US?! We asked ourselves…what are clouds and where does WIND come from? We found out that the power of the sun and temperature has everything to do with how clouds and wind form. We revisited our knowledge about the 3 different states of water we learned about earlier in the year. We thought, again, about the water cycle and how water when heated transforms into vapor and moves upward it bonds together to form clouds. We conducted an experiment to see if we could make a cloud…and we did! Often we love to look at

Then we played store and took turns buying items and paying for them using a combination of coins. After that – you guessed it – game day! We learned a new one and brought out several others. These guys and gals are doing an excellent job of counting mixed coins!! 🎉 Ms. Kelly’s crew kicked off the week

Middle School: Week of Mar 31

Math: The Marionettes took on inequalities this week. They learned how to solve for inequalities and how to graph solution sets. On Thursday they completed stations to review both equations and inequalities. The Saplings learned how to find the volume of both rectangular and triangular pyramids at the beginning of the week. They ended the week by starting Volumeville. In groups of 3, students are designing 3D buildings and calculating the total volume of the town. The Marionettes had lessons over graphing quadratics using vertex form and identifying transformations. They started a stained glass project which requires them to graph
